The principle of using optical discs to generate solar power
The plan is to convert electricity from the solar cells into energy waves and use electromagnetic fields to transfer them down to an antenna on the Earth’s surface.

This chapter provides an overview of the fundamental principles of concentrating solar power (CSP) systems. It begins with the optical processes and the ultimate limits on the extent to which solar radiation can be concentrated. Practical factors that reduce achievable concentration levels further are discussed.
Solar cells can operate at increased efficiencies under higher solar concentration and replacing solar cells with optical devices to capture light is an effective method of decreasing the cost of a system without compromising the amount of solar energy absorbed.
A solar concentrator is essentially a light bucket that focuses sunlight onto a small area. A CPV system incorporates solar concentrator components such as lenses, mirrors or other optics to collect incoming sunlight and focus it efficiently onto a photovoltaic cell array, which then converts sunlight into useable, storable energy.
Here we present an incredibly simple alternative means of solar energy capture, concentrated solar power (CSP). A theoretical overview of solar concentration is provided, including some of the limitations at each step of the conversion process.
