What are the grounding conductors for photovoltaic brackets
The conductors used to bond the various exposed metal surfaces together are known as equipment grounding conductors (EGCs).
The conductors used to bond the various exposed metal surfaces together are known as equipment grounding conductors (EGCs).
An equipment grounding conductor (EGC) provides such a path in most of the cases. In this regard, a main bonding jumper (MBJ) should be installed to connect the EGC to the neutral of the supply at one point only (see figure below).
The equipment in direct current (DC) portions of the PV system may be grounded using conductors as outlined above with appropriate connections to each metal surface. In general, when a copper wire is connected to a metal surface to be grounded, some sort of certified/listed grounding device must be used.
Section 690.41 covers system grounding, allowing both grounded and ungrounded PV array conductors. Both types of systems require ground-fault detection on the PV source and output circuit conductors [690.5 and 690.35(C)] with one very restrictive exception.
Ground-fault protective devices (GFPDs) must meet four requirements; they must: 1) Detect ground-faults in the dc conductors of a PV system, including functionally grounded conductors; 2) Isolate faulted circuits from ground reference; 3) Indicate the occurrence of ground-faults; and 4) Be listed.
