This paper introduces a novel VSG control for two-stage PV generation to provide frequency support for island microgrids. Based on the similarities of the synchronous generator power-angle characteristic curve and the PV array P-V characteristic curve, PV voltage V pv can be analogized to the power angle δ.

The PV power generation unit, batteries, supercapacitors, and EV charging unit are connected by power electronics and transmission lines to form an integrated standalone DC microgrid, as shown in Fig. 1, where the DC bus voltage is 400 V, and the black arrows indicate the direction of power flow.

Reference proposes a DC-side synchronous active power control for two-stage photovoltaic power generation without energy storage, which can keep the DC link voltage stable under the condition of changing light intensity.

The DC–DC boost converter is adopted to adjust the output voltage of the PV array to maximize the power generation from solar energy.
